📦 First ImpressionsOut of the box, this machine is pretty heavy and solid. It looks like the advertisement. It looks pretty modern, but from what I gather after using it, it is somewhat gimmicky. You could either just brew your coffee and keep it hot in those electric mugs or have this that will make it right there for you while heating up the water to brew, but let’s not really call it brewing because it’s not really a legit espresso machine. I’m not really sure what the need for this is compared to just using a mug with your coffee in it already. It seems maybe more useful if say your office doesn’t have a coffee machine or you are camping. But most work places have a coffee machine. This is really just only good for certain scenarios but not really for those coffee snobs. At the price point, you could easily just buy yourself a keurig machine and have it with you at work if they don’t have one instead of this. This one did seem on the cheaper side in comparison to others that I have seen like this though. But this is more of a hot water heater if you ask me. It still gets the job done but of course not a very large cup depending how much you like to drink.⚡ Performance & Brewing PowerHeats up the water well and then dispenses the coffee into it making you a cup of coffee like from the machine🌍 Travel & VersatilitySmall and light enough for on the go convenience. But if you are able to just bring your coffee in a mug and use those self-heated ones, then I don’t think this is necessary. But if you do consider one of these, this one seemed cheaper as I’ve been seeing some going as high as $60.

Portable Espresso Machine Still Requires Dialing In
Right now electric espresso machines are all the rage right now so I thought I’d give this one a try. It’s easily chargeable with a USB-C cable. It comes with components for both pod and loose grounds use. You can also heat up the water in the machine or use a kettle first and skip that step in the process by pressing a different button on the machine.I used hot water and let it rip. The results were passable at best. I used my own coffee that I finely ground in my espresso grinder. I may need to fiddle with dialing it in but not sure how many grams of coffee should be used. It didn’t come with instructions. Most of the components are plastic which is a disappointment.It’s a decent weight though you could back in a backpack to bring with you on a trip or a hike. I’ll need to keep fiddling with it to see if I can improve the outcome.

This is really my first time seeing a coffee maker so portable and this is perfect for personal coffee fix on the go. Full disclosure I have only used this on small size Nespresso original pot, so my review is solely on pot and not on the performance on ground coffee. However my comments should be applicable to both methods in most cases.First I wanted to comment on the pros. I’m an avid coffee drinker since my college years which started over 20 years ago. This machine is extremely useful for on the go. However I will summize four reasons why you wanted to purchase this machine.1) You don’t have access to a coffee shop and don’t want to go through the long process to make coffee. Eg) boil water outdoor or in a camping site2) You wanted to save a lot of money and bring your coffee drinking experience wherever and whenever you want.3) You are an environmental activist that do not want to keep wasting coffee cup. Lastly4) You want the gimmick to try for yourself or to spark conversation and interest.Those are the only reasons for this machine. Yes, I insist those are the only reasons. My reasons are more for 1,2, and 4. For the most part, I prefer to use this in my kitchen as it save a lot of kitchen space and still make the same taste of coffee. If you already have an Nespresso home coffee machine I can guarantee that this portable machine will not make it taste any better than the one you had at home. The plus is that it’s relatively quick and easy to make a cup of espresso and save a lot of space. Just pour hot water (I wouldn’t recommend boiling water from this machine as it takes around 5 mins so it’s not quick) and takes about one minute to complete. Good tasting espresso mostly depended on the pot you use. Just clean the base and remove the pot after consumption and you are ready for next use…. Quick and convenient.Now that’s talk about the cons. My biggest discontent is that the expresso temperature isn’t hot enough… The max water volume is only 80 ml so it’s basically an espresso shot. The base cup is plastic which isn’t the best for durability. I usually use my own mug at home but if you are using this outdoor just be careful as the plastic cup is prone to cracks. The main machine body can’t be open for washing or cleaning so while it is just water, if you use this long enough eventually the water could create some minerals problem. For the small water capacity issue I am used to drinking more than expresso. The solution for this is that when the machine is making your coffee you can open the lid and continue to pour more water into the machine, since the machine usually used up all the water less than 1 minutes, you can pour enough water to make yourself an Americano rather than an espresso. It might dilute your coffee a bit but it’s still good enough for me in my opinion.Another thing I noticed is that the base where it kept my pot when I’m cleaning it always seem some ground coffee leaked out of the pot. Although it never leaked into my cup it makes cleaning a bit more like a necessity after each use. I’m unsure if it’s just the pot I used or if this is a common issue. This doesn’t really impact me as I always do rinse the base anyways…. Overall the biggest pet peeve I had with this machine is just the temperature which in my opinion isn’t really hot enough. Other than that I’m quite satisfied with the machine.If there is a machine out there where it kept very hot temperature, and somehow can increase the water capacity just a bit, it might be worth the extra cost. But for now, this is definitely a valuable machine. I plan on taking this for my next camping trip. This makes coffee experience right at home. I can recommend this for avid coffee drinker.

At the time of review, this portable espresso machine sells for $49.99. To be honest, I did not expect it to work as well as it does considering the relatively low cost. This machine is super polished and makes a great cup of coffee while on battery power.The device itself looks and feels premium, it is a bit heavy and somewhat “large”, may not be ideal for back country camping where you carry all your gear with you for long hikes but it is perfect for car camping like we do. I have a Nespresso machine at home so we already have coffee pods which work in this machine. I did not try it with ground coffee or other pod styles but with the small Nespresso pods it works great. The only main difference from the home machine is the time it takes to make a cup, especially when using cold water. It is able to bring cold water up to temperature and make a coffee all on battery power which is impressive but does kill the battery quickly. Also getting the water temperature up did take around five minutes but I still find this amazing considering the coffee machine at home could use over a 1000 watts of power to boil and make the cup in seconds. The recommended way of using the portable espresso machine is to use hot/boiling water, this saves time and mostly a lot of battery. They claim over 100 cups when not using the heating cycle. We always have our camp stove so boiling some water is not an issue.Making the cup of coffee is super easy, insert the pod or coffee ground in the appropriate receptor, screw it into the bottom, add water to the top compartment, then hit the power button. The display shows the current water temperature, if using the heating you can see the temperature go up then the brewing starts automatically when the temperature is reached. The brewing takes around 70 seconds and does a really good job at extracting the coffee through the pod. It includes a little cup that can be used to drink the coffee or simply to fill the water and protect the nozzle when put away.Overall I am super impressed with this portable espresso machine. It is quite easy to use and makes a really good cup of coffee. It does take a little longer than a home machine but makes up for it by being super portable and battery powered. This is my new favourite way to enjoy coffee while camping!
