Good alternative to full size coffee maker for power outages
We picked up this coffee maker to use during power outages since its electrical draw at 950 watts is significantly reduced from that of our daily use coffee maker. We wanted something to use with solar generators in the event of a power outage, and this fits that need.I was able to brew a nice cup of coffee (there is no indication in the included literature as to the brewing temperature, which is not adjustable, so i cannot be sure whether it is similar to our regular maker, but it was hot enough to brew an enjoyable cup of coffee) using one of our solar generators.So in the event of an outage (our last such outage lasted 15 hours last fall) we can enjoy coffee just as we would otherwise. I could probably run our regular maker instead, but it would deplete our generator more rapidly. It did take a bit longer to dispense the coffee, but considering that my regular machine preheats the water then brews, whereas this one does it all as part of the one-touch process, it really wasn’t a significant overall difference.This was simple to use – just add desired ground coffee to the filter basket, or insert a K-Cup into the designated holder, insert into the unit, add desired water (there are “steps” in the water reservoir to indicate the amount of water already added as you fill) anywhere from 6 to 14 ounces, close the lid, press the button on the front bottom, and the water heats, and coffee is dispensed (don’t forget to place a suitable cup or mug to catch the coffee!) The machine dispenses all of the water before shutting off. And it can run a self-clean cycle as desired/needed. If you add a bit of vinegar to the water per the instructions it can help avoid scaling in the machine.All things considered this machine works pretty nicely. I’ll still with my full size machine for everyday use, but in a pinch I wouldn’t hesitate to plug this in and brew some coffee!

Poor quality made with cheap parts
Update. It’s broken. The reservoir leak is now irreparable and the top latch is broken. Terrible product. I’ve contacted Chefman for a replacement since it’s within warranty, but I wish I would have purchased something else originally.This is a poor quality product made with very cheap parts. I had the single serve version previously. That one lasted 5 years before it died, which I consider to be a good life span for the price point. This product, however, is just not good. The reservoir leaks profusely. The parts are too weak to correctly seal the o-ring to the bottom of the reservoir, so it just leaks everywhere. I have to put the whole unit in the sink to fill it. So be aware of that. The release button on the top doesn’t really work. On my old one it would release the lid and lift it up 1/4 inch or so, but this one barely releases and sometimes you have to push it multiple times while using your other hand to lift the lid. Again, just poor quality and cheap parts.

Excellent little coffee maker — but 1 quibble
I’ve used Keurigs for a long time. My last Keurig was a disappointment so I bought a couple other coffee makers and returned them.Came across this little guy, and I really, really like it. Coffee is hot and strong, easy to make, not too noisy, and it brews quickly, even faster than my Keurigs. My one quibble is that it comes with one filter for coffee grounds, and I haven’t found a way to purchase an extra one. Generic filters that fit everything else, Keurig and not, just won’t fit. K-cups are easy to use and dispose of (we have no recycling for plastics anywhere within 200 miles), but I love the coffee that’s roasted right here in our little town. I’d prefer to have one or even two extra grounds filters, but until Chefman makes them available I’m out of luck.If you normally use K-pods, I don’t think you can go wrong with this little coffee maker. Despite my overall 4 stars, it’s a great little brewer.

Nice and appears durable, bought with an affordable warranty
It’s an interesting machine, the coffee and water comes out slowly. It works like a top, and I think it will be more durable than the three keurigs I’ve gone through with warranty replacement and general failures. Bought it with a warranty. Holds more than keurig, up to 14 oz or more I think. It’s very quiet compared to keurig and smaller. Easy to clean the entire coffee decanter is removable, like Keurig I think. Love this coffee maker. One small note is the inner tray of the actual maker needs separate cleaning if switching between coffee and tea.(edited) I had to make an update to this review, I won’t dock a star, however if you prepare for example keurig kup hot chocolate it can leave a residue in the outer decanter that needs to be cleaned with soap and water or it could cause contamination. It seems to struggle with syrup beverages.

We have used Chefman coffee makers for years brewing 3-4 12oz cups each day using a variety of pods and grounds, all with great results. This machine, however is a complete dud. The lid didn’t seem to close properly and leaks, and now the lid is stuck because the little button doesn’t unlatch it. Brewing seems finicky, sometimes working well and other times barely dribbling, and after brewing, water continues to run out. All in all an unsatisfactory experience.The other chefman machines have a direct line for the water to flow. This one seems to depend on the lid to create a seal, but it’s not quite right.
