This is exactly what I needed
Looks great, feels great. Runs on Android 14 has access to the Google Play store, you can adjust the refresh rate and contrast for each app individually. It took a day or two to get used to but once you do it’s super intuitive. The color is good but it’s still e-ink so it’s not going to be crazy vibrant. Make sure to read the manual!!

Compact and Versatile
It is a good device. Colors are muted but that is the nature of color ink screen. Nice size for travel and you can add the apps you like. See photos.

Decent size reader, horrible color display.
OK e-reader software wise, though I should have gotten the black and white version. The color screen layer is pretty bad. Very fuzzy, low resolution makes everything look horrid. Reading black and white pages is fine, but even then, the color layer does affect the B&W display quality.Get the B&W model if you really want a decent reader. Mine will probably be shelved or donated before long, as the color mode just isn’t usable. It looks like the first color e-ink screens from 10 years ago. That is how weak and fuzzy it is.

A solid color e-reader.
After a recent firmware update, BigMe has taken away all of my major complaints. This is a solid device. The biggest “flaw” is the color screen, which is also its biggest strength. Simply due to the nature of color screens, they are darker than monochrome screens. This is not the fault of BigMe, this is just the technology available today. In bright sunlight, it looks and works great. In indoor lighting, you will likely have to use the front light, which works well. I don’t use any of the included apps, but I use “Moon+ Reader Pro” from the Google Play Store. Fortunately, in the latest firmware update, you can customize the buttons on the bottom to avoid the BigMe ecosystem entirely and use your own reader, file manager, and AI apps. Note that I could not get the ChatGPT app to work, but Google Gemini works great, should you care about such things. There is also a micro-SD card slot which is great for people with a huge library. I find that the built-in speaker is just OK. Not great, but serviceable. There is no support for a stylus, other than the usual ones that work with any phone or tablet, so this is not for taking notes. The overall performance is actually a bit sluggish, but works well enough for reading. This is actually, surprisingly enough, capable of showing YouTube videos! The refresh rate is not fantastic, nor is the video quality, but it can work in a pinch, and in bright sunlight, could even work better than your phone. My biggest complaint is simply that it uses its own launcher. Navigating the system takes a little getting used to. You can still access all of the parts of the operating system that you need, but you might find them in a different place. The included launcher works, but is very stripped-down and a bit quirky at times, and I don’t think that you can change it (not that I have tried). You also don’t get access to the usual Android settings, but only the parts that BigMe allows you to change. Still, I don’t really consider this to be a bad thing, as you can change the things that you are likely to care about.Overall, this device is definitely worth getting, and is probably the best in its price class. It does its job, and does it well considering the price. The Android OS with Google Play means that you can load the Kindle reading app, Kobo app, the Libby app (for checking out books from your local library) and any other app reading app that is available for Android. This give you flexibility that is not available from a reader locked into a single ecosystem. So, if you really need a color screen and want something that both runs Android and is less than $200, then this is definitely worth looking at.

Ok e-Reading Device
I purchased this device from the Bigme direct site. I saw many positive reviews of their other products and wanted a 6 inch e-reader that would allow me to use multiple apps for reading – a perfect purse carry. Even with the lack of reviews I figured the price was decent enough.. until the tariffs hit. I would give the Bigme B6 just over 3 stars… something like 3.25. It’s not horrible, but it’s not life changing either.Pros :- great size, easy to hold, lightweight, and fits in all my purses- dependable operating system (android os 14)- customizable settings, including screen saver (love this feature!)- regular reading mode during the day is really good and clear- quick page turns- comes with magnetic caseCons:- I’ve had some glitching since the most recent software update- night mode is not great; this is unfortunate because I do a lot of my reading at night before bed and use dark mode frequently- battery life is not great. I took the bigme as my only e-reading device on a longer weekend trip (Fri-Sun) and read a few hours each day and had to charge the device in order to have enough battery.Neutral but worth considering:- not many options for cases just yet since it’s so newOverall I can’t say I regret this purchase, but it’s not what I was hoping for, either. It’s good for the intended purpose of a purse carry to stay off my phone, but it won’t replace my Kindle or Kobo devices. I would save up for a Boox Palma or go with one of the other Bigme devices over this one, I think.
