A good option for very light hiking, for very long distances
You have to be careful these days with this kind of item. This has that ‘tacticool’ look, so just be careful that you intended that. With a casual t-shirt that’s similar in color, it doesn’t actually look aggressive. However, with some patches and enough things attached, it will be clear to most that you have a firearm in the front pouch (even if you don’t).I will say, this is a really good product. It’s light. It’s not quite up to the 5.11 or maxpedition quality level. It’s definitely strong enough to rely on for a long hike filled with water. The 2.5 liter pouch is enough for most people to go on a 10 mile hike in very hot conditions. I was also able to fit a 3 liter pouch in (alone). In the front, I did put a Glock 17, which fit easily with a light and two extra magazines. The pouch takes practice to open quickly, lacking a tab like some conceal carry pouches have. It is not clearly designed for conceal carry, though that’s what I’ve always considered thin chest pouches to be for. There are a couple of small, totally independent pockets on the wrong, and you can add a compass and map, and some very small snacks. This isn’t a great pack for a dangerous hike where you could get lost. It’s a terrific one for a route you are familiar with, where you intend to go light, but need water and a firearm. It hugs the body nicely, as I’ve shown with a profile view in the photo below. It’s also quite comfortable, even with weight. You can wear either the water bladder bag, or the chest bag, completely alone, as the chest pack comes with an extra strap. Or you can attach them at four points and wear them together, which is much better for the distribution of the water weight onto the sternum.I highly recommend using a chest pack to carry a firearm if hiking. Keeping that off your legs and hip is much safer for long term injuries. With practice, you’ll be able to draw if you see an animal or someone dangerous. The weight balances the water, and it’s not that obnoxious looking. This whole thing is maybe a third the price of a more premium brand, and the only real problem is that it’s not particularly waterproof. I don’t really care about that. With all the straps, even if something did break, you will be able to walk to camp or car with the remaining three straps.Putting this on in full assembly is easy. Just unclip one side, and throw it on.For functionality and look, it’s a good value for sure. For durability, it is not excellent, but it’s fine for the price.

    Really Nice Quality!
This is a high quality backpack, like much higher quality that I was expecting. I have never heard of the brand, but looked it up and they seem legit and focused specifically on the ‘tactical’ market. Also seems to be made in Vietnam, which is known for having a well trained workforce making high quality outdoor gear (think tents, backpacks, etc.). In short, it’s really nice, even if I am not using it for ‘tactical’ purposes. (I am using it for XC skiing and hiking).Just to highlight a few points that stood out for me: The hydration pack is BPA free and feels like good quality and the hose has a sleeve to protect it and keep algae from growing, the outer mesh has a ‘lip’ to keep stuff in place (first time I have ever seen this), and the front pouch can be worn independently or completely removed. The pack is pretty slim, good materials, and very adjustable. Really the only tradeoff for me, is that it is heavier than expected given the size. I generally go for ultralight gear and this is not that, but it does feel much sturdier so not so worried about catching on a branch, which is nice too. I don’t think I will use the front pouch as much because I like access to my jacket zipper and to be less cluttered up front, but it is nice for holding a camera or binoculars (or some snacks!).Pictures are from before taking it outside, but can confirm it works well and is very nice. I haven’t needed to test out their warranty and hope never to have to, but appreciate that they imply they can fix things if needed, similar to Patagonia. More companies should do this rather than just getting people to buy new gear.

Good pack, QA could be better
Our family does a lot of mountain biking and hiking, so we have plenty of hydration packs around from the major name brands and use them multiple times a week during the warmer months, so this review is from someone who has used and worn out a few hydration packs before. This pack, for an inexpensive option compared to the big brands, is pretty good.As a hydration pack. It works well by itself. The valve is a little unconventional, as you pull on it with your teeth to open and push to close, along with the actual bite valve itself. It works and does not leak. The secondary pocket is big enough to hold some trail essentials, and the exterior mesh pocket is big enough to stuff a rain shell or other lighter extra layer.I knocked one star off because quality assurance could be better. The handle ring on the hydration bladder was installed upside down, so that the clip that attaches to the internal strap to keep the bladder in place was in the wrong spot. After a little examination, there is a small tab that you need to release, which then allowed me to remove and reinstall the handle in the right orientation to fix the problem. The chest pack itself works well with the hydration pack, but trying to use it by itself with the included harness didn’t work well for me. That being said, its own straps and buckles make it easy to loop over and attach to pretty much anything, so you could use it with another pack, hang off your handlebars, etc.For the tactical angle, the chest pack is big enough to hold a full size semi-automatic pistol with two magazines… If you’re hiking places that require such a thing.Overall, good product for the price with multiple uses.
