Lightweight & great for international travel
I bought this set for a trip from MN to Japan this spring. I don’t travel often and didn’t feel like dropping a huge amount of money, but I also have unrealistic expectations of everything going wrong (cue images of zippers ripping apart, bags flying open, handles and wheels cracking off, etc etc). With these semi-opposing thoughts in mind, I did a lot of research on various options until I had it narrowed down. This set was the winner for me based on size and weight, and ended up being perfect! Some highlights:- Sturdy but lightweight. There were no issues with any part of the luggage traveling internationally, and it’s lightweight enough that I wasn’t concerned with my bags going over the weight limit for checked luggage.- Spinner wheels have held up great so far and are SO CONVENIENT. If you haven’t had luggage with spinner wheels, please try them. It was so ridiculously easy to glide through the busy airport and train stations.- All the pieces fit together nicely. They arrived nestled together like a trio of boring, useful Russian dolls. On my way to Japan, I fit everything I needed for 13 days into the medium bag (25″) and put the medium bag in the large bag (29″). When I got to my destination I only had one large piece of luggage to worry about, and I got to go home with an entire suitcase full of goodies.Other notes:- My cat decided these are really cool and fun to scratch, and after about 5 days of daily claw use there wasn’t any major damage.- The handle doesn’t feel like the sturdiest thing in the world. I’m pretty short, so to drag the 29″ bag around I didn’t need to extend the handle at all. The others I have been careful with, but I haven’t really encountered any extendable handles that have felt extremely durable, so who knows.- I do wish there were more pockets, either on the front or back or inside, but I really enjoy pockets and compartments and having my things organized, so that’s just a personal preference and didn’t ruin my life.Overall, these are great pieces of luggage and I’m looking forward to using them more. They may not be a lifelong investment, but they do seem like they’ll hold up for at least a dozen more long trips.

Decent luggage at a decent price
Luggage was chosen to ensure it would fit under the seat of the airline we were flying (American Airlines). I wanted the flexibility of being able to put it under the seat in case there wasn’t enough overhead bin room. Results: when flying in an 737, it was a tight fit, but went under the seat (the wheels were catching on the seat frame a bit). When flying in an Airbus 231, there was enough room that it slid under the seat easily and didn’t catch on anything.Durability seems fine, no issues so far. Zippers are fine. I don’t like the expandability feature; and its easy to mistake that zipper for one of the 2 that hold the main compartment closed. The only thing I would change is that the extendable carry handle be beefed up a bit. Its a bit flimsy and I am not sure it’ll hold up under heavy usage. Since we are only occasional travellers, this should be less of an issue.

Favorite and well worth your money!
This is my FAVORITE traveling suitcase, so compact. I have had many folks comment about it and have sent them to Amazon to purchase one. Well worth the money.

First impression of the 23″ Amazon Basic softside suitcase
23″ review:Great: Doesn’t stink inside like similar sized suitcases at local big box stores. No built in 3 digit lock which I consider to be a plus. Has a bottom handle for a quick grab. It’s just the right size and empty weight (6.8 lbs on my scale) to help stop arguments at the ticket counter. Cost only slightly more than dirty old thrift sort suitcases. Spins nicely.Average: Metal expansion handle looks OK. Time will tell. Single, not double corner wheels.Needs improvement: Expands on three sides but not the bottom. More outside color options would have been nice in this size.

Last year I borrowed a spinner cabin bag from a friend and was so impressed that I decided to get my own. The one I borrowed was from a well-known luggage brand, but that particular style had been discontinued and there didn’t seem to be an obvious replacement (even their customer services weren’t sure). I wasn’t sure about paying a lot for something that may be similar but not the same so I was very pleased to find this AmazonBasics case for a much lower price that fulfilled all my criteria – spinner (4-wheel) case, additional handle on the base for easy lifting, soft body and concealed name and address tag.The navy blue option had not been released when I ordered but it has been worth the wait as the colour is great and makes it slightly more recognisable. On inspection the appearance of the case belies its low price tag – the fabric is obviously strong and durable and the zip pulls are larger than average, giving the appearance of strength and practicality. The handles are comfortable to hold and the interior is spacious and well lined. All-in-all this case represents quality and value – the only thing I would take issue with from the description is “4 double wheels”. There are certainly 4 wheels which rotate as well as revolve so the case can be pulled in every direction, but I can’t see how they could be described as double. Other “double wheel” cases have two small wheels side by side at each wheel point but this definitely does not.All of this is obviously on first inspection and I may update my review to include information on how well it functions when full and in use but for now I am more than happy with my choice. It may not be identical in every detail to the branded case I borrowed (eg it has only two compartments additional to the main interior, and there is a choice of only 2 colours) but it certainly has all my “must-have” features for a much more affordable cost.

For the price this is a great mid-sized bag. Basic, as per the brand, but works perfectly well. Construction is light, but it’s been hauled around the city a few times and been to Germany and back and not shown any weaknesses.
