Costly but worth it! I’m a manufacturing engineer by trade and I can’t think or a way they could have made these any better! The solid metal clamps are so much nicer than the plastic ones found on most others. Everything is comfortable and solid.For local adventures, i prefer my bamboo walking stick. But unfortunately, this is much too big to take along for any kind of travel. For overall portability, lightness, strength, and reliability, the Black Diamond Alpines are fantastic!

Excellent trekking poles.
Excellent trekking poles. Very light and solid. Hight adjustment is super simple. Also easy swap on the tips from original (ice and snow) to rubber (for pavement). Do not see any issues so far.

Really liked the Black Diamond Z-Fold poles that I’ve been using for several years but they finally broke after a thousand miles. These are a great replacement and have adjustable length that works well with my trekking pole tent.

Love them!
I’ve used mine for a lot of miles and am extremely happy with them. My favorite features are the handle shape/design and the design/durability of the locks. The only things I don’t like is the lack of additional baskets or tip covers, and I wish they extended a little longer since certain tents recommend longer ones.

Two failures with less than 20 miles
I own 2 pairs of the former black-and-white version of this pole. I had 2 issues with these new Alpine Cork poles. The first is the cam lock on one pole kept slipping on default tightness, shortening the pole when enough pressure was applied downward. This didn’t happen in the beginning but developed in the middle of the hike. The second issue is when a different cam lock completely slipped from its anchor on the pole and you could slide it up and down the pole. Both issues happened with only 20 miles of use. I’m returning for replacement but now I’m very hesitant, because I’ve put my life in the hands of the black-and-white version of this pole and it never failed with the old style of cam locks.

This should be a 0 star review but that wasn’t an option.I expect Black Diamond to ship undamaged goods. The delivery box was in perfect condition but this is how I received my poles – minor crack on the left pole handle and significant damage on the right pole handle.I don’t care whose fault it is – the manufacturer’s or Amazon’s. I leave for an expedition in the next few days so it’s impossible to return these and get replacements in time. I will have to repair or tape it up myself. Horrible experience and never ordering again from this seller or manufacturer. Feel sick and helpless having paid for this.

I received a defective product: the clips tightening the height of the poles arrived dysfunctional. I had to ship them back. Bad (product quality, shipment, reimbursement) experience in general, which explains the 1-star rating. I ordered another similar product but never obtained a delivery date and had to cancel the order after 10-11 days.

Used them through the worst of the winter months walking on the South Downs, in snow, ice and mud. Very reassuring and I felt very sure footed. Nice and light, we actually mostly just shared one pole each.
