Seems solid, for now
All I need is a simple white/red headlamp with a decent amount of range and lumens, and this does all of that. The build quality seems to be much better than what I have seen previously in headlamps priced around $5, sold in packs of 3 at big box stores. The headband is pretty high quality and it’s comfortable. The battery power meter feature is nice; I’m not sure the power remaining indicator is completely reliable with NiMH rechargeables, but when it’s down to one blue light, the batteries still work–although just barely.The point of failure that I have had with previous headlamps is that the click-adjustable tilt up/down capability eventually stops holding the light at various angles, and it just flops down immediately. This Black Diamond model seems stronger in that respect; we’ll see how it goes long-term.

Batteries, alkaline, of poor quality are included with and an excellent headlamp.
Black diamond is a quality company and this headlight seems to check all the boxes relative to features and function. Black diamond management needs to take note: including alkaline batteries is a very poor idea. Either lithium batteries should be included or no batteries. Alkaline batteries will sooner or later leak and possibly ruin the equipment. No brand of alkaline batteries is immune to leaking.They are heavier than lithium batteries and don’t last as long. Lithium batteries work far better in the cold. Get with it black diamond; go all the way in delivering a quality product.

Super Bright, Super Simple.
I was looking for a replacement headlamp for my 8 year old Cabelas XPG lamp that had white, red, blue, and green lighting options. I hated the blue and green options and and only used the red 99.9% of the time and occasionally the white. The beam was super bright which I liked for walking to and from when hunting. Problem is was that you had to scroll through all the colors to achieve the red light and there was no “memory” mode. I did research on multiple replacement headlamps where I only wanted white and red filter options and came across the Black Diamond Spot. This light arrived and WOW. This light seems to be well made, and super simple to operate with memory and dimming settings. Only white and red beams of light. The cost of this gem is far less than a lot of other lights with the same features. It’s also waterproof to a degree. My only con to this light is that the red led is not as bright as the main white led. I’m sure I will get used to it. Highly recommend this headlamp to anyone who wants a quality, bright headlamp and a reasonable price.

Love BD headlamps. This is my second BD headlamp I have purchased, this one had extra features so I was upgrading from my last one. Just used it in July for 30K trail race at night. Worked great. If you’re a nighttime runner, this is definitely the headlamp for you!I’m sure it works great to for any type of work during the night as well.

Ci sono altre lampade frontali che costano meno e, sulla carta, garantiscono lumen più alti. Ho deciso di comprare questa perchè conosco il brand ed avere una lampada frontale efficiente può fare la differenza in campo alpinistico e non. La potenza è comunque più che sufficiente al massimo, anzi illumina molto bene l’area davanti a sé, in più c’è la possibilità di regolare finemente la luminosita tenendo premuto il tastone superiore; ovviamente abbassando la luminosità aumenta la durata delle batterie (non una batteria ricaricabile ma ministilo di tipo AAA, una soluzione comoda per un cambio rapido in caso di batterie scariche). Ha anche la possibilità di impostare luce intermittente e luce rossa, ottima per chi, come me, potrebbe utilizzarla per sessioni di fotografia notturna al cielo.
