Excellent picture quality, really nice hardware!
Like many other folks, I suspect, I’ve been looking at alternatives to the DJI HD FPV system as the US ban takes effect. This led me to try the WalkSnail system from Caddx. These goggles are lovely. The packaging is quite professional, with the goggles and necessary cables packaged together in a nice case inside the box. You have the choice of using a battery with an XT60 connector or a traditional Fatshark cable/battery. Once power is connected, you can adjust the width and focus settings. When properly configured, the screen is super bright and the display is very clean, with easy-to-navigate menus. You can insert a microSD card in the goggles for recording your flights. I found the width and focus buttons on the bottom of the goggles a little stiff, but this is actually a good thing as they won’t get adjusted accidentally.Pairing was very easy—press the link button on the VTX and on the goggles, and the devices found each other quickly. I had to adjust my OSD settings in Betaflight slightly to move some bottom items so they don’t overlap with the goggles’ built-in OSD.In summary, these are a worthy competitor to the DJI system. They’re easy to set up with no activation required through proprietary software (YAY!). The screen is super bright and the image quality is amazing. Definitely worth your money if you’re looking to make a switch or starting from scratch.

Great product at a reasonable price point
I received the Walksnail Avatar Goggles X and was really impressed right out of the box. Setup was quick and pairing with my Caddx GT Kit was effortless. It comes with a power cable, AV cable, and a nicely padded carrying case — a thoughtful touch that makes transport and storage easy. The firmware upgrade process was smooth, and the instructions were accurate and clear. Eye adjustment was straightforward; I was able to dial in a crisp, sharp image within a minute.Coming from a DJI O4 setup, I found the video quality to be on par, with excellent screen brightness and color. What really stood out, though, was the range — using the GT VTX, I was able to get past 2.4 miles before my Radiomaster telemetry dropped out. The goggles still had more range to give, which is impressive.I love the one-button recording feature that saves footage directly to the onboard SD card, and there are plenty of settings to fine-tune your experience. My only minor complaint is that the goggles have small gaps around the faceplate that can let a bit of light in. Fortunately, Caddx sells a foam pad add-on to fix this. It would also be great to see a USB-C port on the unit for easier connection to a laptop for firmware updates and file transfers.Overall, the Walksnail Avatar Goggles X deliver excellent performance, strong range, and a smooth user experience — easily a top choice for FPV pilots.Note: The included screenshot was taken directly from onboard recording on the Goggles X SD card, showing the actual image quality captured by the goggles themselves.

Great upgrade, not best for brand new users.
Overall awesome image quality, the interface along with firmware issues out of the box weren’t fun but once it’s up and running it performs well. The fit and finish are okay, however when it comes to face fit this feels like it was designed for really narrow faces and the foam it comes with leaves a lot to be desired. If you don’t already have a headstrap you like using you’ll want to grab one since what comes in the box is very flimsy. The lack of a expansion bay really limits you in comparison to other options at around the same price point.

Quality
Packaging and First ImpressionsThe Caddx Avatar Goggles X make an excellent first impression from the moment you open the box. The packaging is clean, secure, and well-organized, and the included carrying case feels premium — rugged enough for travel, with just the right amount of padding and space for accessories. It’s clear Caddx put thought into presentation and protection. One small shortcoming is that an HDMI-mini cable isn’t included, which would have been a thoughtful addition for connecting to simulators or external devices.Overall Design and Upgrade ImpressionsAfter testing, it’s clear that the Goggles X represent a major leap forward from the older Goggles L. The overall build quality, screen clarity, menu responsiveness, and comfort level have all been noticeably improved. The redesigned form factor feels more balanced on the face, and the image quality — particularly in sharpness and color reproduction — is far superior. In short, the Goggles X deliver a significantly more refined user experience, bridging the gap between consumer-friendly and professional-grade FPV gear.

RunSlug better be the next System!
Walksnail is legit. A bit expensive, but worth it. Tried a few vtx/cam versions. Will be getting some more eventually. I’ve ordered a couple handfuls of them various places. I only had an issue with one of them. The issue was resolved. This is a great system for anyone interested in FPV. Far better clarity than analog systems. Not sure how the penetration is for bando flights. But for my application this is an excellent system.

Not pleased.
They suck. Compared to the Caddx Avatar goggles these imo are a downgrade. They fit horribly, They over heat and right screen goes dark. Asked caddx for heat sink multiple times and they say they are out. I had them new in box up till early this year which put me past the window of getting the heat sink upgrade. They sit on my shelf never get ised brand new. Wasted $500 on caddx product.

Great pair
Gotta admit, these do make you look a lot less of a nerd than other goggle options. Love that I can use my lipo packs to power this. Walksnail might be our best option since the other guys are getting banned.

Great runner up for DJI replacement
Excellent headset for HD video and long range. Not as clear or as long distance as the DJI 3 but it is the close competitor. The strap is a little tight I had to modify mine and they are not as comfortable as the DJI 3
