Solid Lock with Easy Combo Setup
I bought this Master Lock for multiple rifle cases, and it does exactly what I need. Setting my own combination was quick and straightforward thanks to the clear instructions. Once set, the dials turn smoothly and feel solid.The build quality is solid for general use. It’s not meant for ultra-high security situations, but for luggage and rifle cases, it works perfectly (i.e., checks the compliance box for rifle cases in MA). I also like not having to carry a key around.Overall, reliable and convenient.

Solid but hard to read
Solid lock but really hard to read number without reading glasses. tried another brand and those I can read fine without reading glasses.

Poorly designed trash
I thought I’d get a “good product” with the name brand. Master lock should be ashamed to put their name on this. The numbers are almost impossible to see. Even with a flashlight. They have some weird reflectivity with light. When you turn one ring the next ring will turn a little bit even if you don’t touch it. Between that and the fact you can’t see the numbers it’s really hard to get the combo right. The dials don’t really click into a number. If you just touch the wheel it will move a little. The unlatching mechanism is weird and difficult. Even if you do get the combo right, you don’t know it because it is so quirky to get open. I had TSA just throw the one of the locks back into my luggage and use a zip tie to keep my bag closed. Guess they couldn’t figure it out either. I will be throwing these away and buying something else. So many designs flaws included on a single product.

This is a good lock at a good price, but weird to use
This travel lock was a good value and it functions as designed. But I have to warn you that it works a bit different than other travel locks, and requires some getting used to. Had I known this lock was so strangely designed, I would have paid the extra $3 and gone for another brand.For one thing, the order of the three numbers in the combination are vertical (top to bottom) rather than horizontal. You have to get used to holding the lock vertically and entering in the combination this way. It can also be difficult to remember to line the numbers up with the tiny guide dots that are between the numbers. In a dark room, you may have trouble entering in your combination if you can’t see where to line up the numbers.Finally, unlike every other travel lock — and even unlike any other padlock in general — the lock unlocks horizontally rather than vertically. Instead of pulling the locking cable out of the lock, you push it to the side. This is so completely counter-intuitive I still struggle with it. And combined with not always knowing where to line up the numbers, you may think you are entering in the wrong combination if you can’t see what you are doing and can’t see how to pull the cable to the side to unlock it.The lock is good quality and performs well. I hate to give something that is cheap and well-made a mediocre review. But it’s just too awkward to use. Spend a couple extra bucks and get a normal travel lock.

Brilliant little padlock. Nice looking easy to set up and strong. Just used on a trip to Mexico after reading review about how good this lock is. It lived up to the review and we have decided to purchase two more .
