Great, but not waterproof
Let’s be honest, these are great, comfortable, breathable, nice looking, long lasting (tough), light, tru to size, did I mention confortable? but NOT water proof, they can keep you dry on a regular rain exposure, but as soon as you step in a poodle deep enough to cover above the sole, you’ll get water inside, not much but enough to be annoying. Don’t take me wrong, I’ve bought 3 pairs of these and I think 2 of Moab 2 because I have accepted the fact they aren’t waterproof, maybe we could say they are water resistant, but all the other things I like are enough for me to keep buying this boots, each pair lasts me around 2 years. (I’m a biologist and go out a lot to hot and cold places). Might someday try the GTX version but they still are out of my budget.PD. “New Earth” keeps better the shade of color than the “Earth” one wich turns to a grey like brownish tone.

Worth the price all day long.
This our 3 pair of Merrels we order. I can say this brand lasts a long time. They are so comfortable and support the ankles so well. These are the perfect weight to walk or hike in. The color doesn’t fade and they do keep your feet pretty dry. The shoes run true to size and are really nice looking on the feet.

Best Gen Yet, I love these MOAB’s
I first heard about Merrill Boots while I was in the Marine Corps and eventually was issued these, and fell in love with them. They were the first gen MOAB’s they were light and very comfortable, now that I have retired I wanted a better hiking book for when I go camping and working around the my cabin, the fit is amazing, the color is spot on and I love how the new gen has more aggressive traction, which is a huge plus. Overall these feel better than what I had and I know that the durability of these boots will last a long time. Plus they are 100% waterproof and when you pair these with OR gaiters you are golden for any adventure.

narrow toe box on boot is uncomfortable
I hike 4 miles everyday, rain or shine, snow or clear skies. For the past 90 days. 28 miles a week, approximately 112 miles a month or more. Anyway, got these boots 3 days ago, wore them twice on that four mile hike. The construction of the boot is good, it reminds me of a stretchy thick reinforced nylon sock. Don’t know how waterproof it is yet but I can say that the comfort is off some. In my opinion the boot is too narrow, narrower than it should be and if it was a bit wider it would probably be more comfortable.I was wearing a pair of Nike Air Monarch’s to do this daily 4 mile hike, sometimes I wear Carlsbad Wolverine boots, even wore a pair of Everboots and none of those caused my feet any damage, but these tight toed shoes, although they have outstanding treads on them, made my small toe on my right foot bleed long enough for a quarter sized stain on my sock. Which surprised me because I didn’t exactly feel it and I the fact the material of the boot is so stretchy (it’s not exactly the same as a pair of leather boots).I usually get foot wear a 1 size larger than my foot size, especially with Steel Toed boots, but with this pair of hiking boots I figured I’d go with 1/2 size larger but these boots run small in the toe area and squeeze your toes, the whole boot is basically like that. Walking on pavement there is so much tread on it that it feels like the heels are higher than they should be and the balls of the foot area is not very well padded.I put on a pair of thick wool socks but I had to squeeze my foot in the boot and it made it uncomfortable so I put on a thin pair and it was manageable. The thing is the boots are warm, even in 25 degree weather so I didn’t need thick socks, in fact the boot fit best when I had no socks on at all but I’m not hiking 4 miles with no socks on.What sucks about buying boots online is that if they don’t fit you have to go through the hassle of sending them back and ordering another pair, when that pair arrives it might not necessarily fit either, not the way you expect. Like I said, I’ve had the boots for 3 days, walked 8 miles over 2 days in them, the boots made my small toe bleed but without pain, but the treads give me so much traction that my legs don’t get tired as fast and I have more endurance so it’s a trade off. I’m hoping that over time the boots will stretch some and fit better, I’ll just have to keep wearing them and find out. What I should have done is looked for this pair of boots or a another type of Merrill boots at a shoe store locally and tried on 1 size larger like I normally get. It’s a case of live and learn, it’s good to be certain that is for sure.

Very comfortable right out of box
These are terrific hiking/walking boots! Extremely comfortable. I’ve worn them for both hiking in the mountains and just for walking as well. The fit for me was true to size. They have great ankle support and so far my feet have remained dry. I like the color as well

Nice, comfortable hiker.
Very comfortable, light and good traction. So far I’ve only been in minor wet conditions and they were ok. I take a 10 1/2, ordered these in 11 and they were snug. Had me a little concerned. Within 2-3 weeks they broke in to fit perfect. I would definitely buy 1/2 size bigger!

Wide Feed Approved!!
Absolutely love these boots. I have 12.5 EEEE feet (think duck flippers), and they actually fit comfortably—rare find! Took them through water and mud, and the waterproofing held up great. Surprisingly breathable too, so no swamp-foot. The brown color hides mud well and still looks sharp. Vibram soles were a little squeaky on tile at first, but that went away after a few wears. Laces stay tied, comfort is top-notch. My new go-to hiking boot.

Awesome shoes!!
Nice shoes! I read some reviews that they ran small, but didn’t really believe it. Well, I ordered my regular size 9 and had to return for a 9 1/2. I take reviews more to heart after this experience. Anyway, these shoes are awesome! Comfortable and really a nice looking shoe! I wanted a warm substantial shoe for spring, fall and winter and these are the ticket!! I Love them! And, yes they really do run small.

Comme j’ai un pied plus large, les bottes Merrell sont sans l’ombre d’un doute le fit parfait pour moi. De bonne qualité, elles sont très confortables dès les premières minutes. Je recommande

I have a hubby with feet that are difficult to fit. These Merrill hiking boots are perfect for him. They give needed support while also having the softer sole his foot condition requires. They also are available in the wide width he needs. He already had this boot and wore it for 8 years. He’s hard on footwear so that’s amazing. Though his old pair is really in good enough shape to wear, they have some tears on the seam so we replaced them with the same make and style knowing he’ll be happy. He wore them on a hike, right out of the box, with no problems.

I ordered size 8.5. I needed a half size up from my normal 8 and I could not find that in any shop in the UK so I went online and Amazon had it. When they arrived they were size 8. What? A close inspection of the box revealed that the UK8 is America’s 8.5 but the ordering box on the Amazon website made no distinction between UK and US sizing. It simply stated 8 and then 8.5. So now I had to decide whether to return or to keep so the next hour was spent making sure that the lacing was how I needed it to be to accommodate my wide feet while wearing thick socks and eventually I got there. I still have to do a serious hike in the weather that will put them to a real test but I do have better comfort for these than I have had from my previous walking shoes. Not perfect because I wanted 8.5 and 9 would have been too big, but certainly better. Now I will have to replace the laces. They are the round sort rather than flat and round ones always slip so have to be double-bowed. I know the manufacturer thinks this makes them easier to put on and fit snugly but in practice, it means they become loose too easily and get sucked off in the mud. That is really average terrain hiking in the UK. If it had not been for a gift card that had brought the price down for me on this purchase, I would have gone through the returns process. Good enough to keep and use but not my perfect pair of shoes and will not be buying them again unless they really do have a UK8.5wide.

These shoes are great. Perfect fit and comfortable to wear whole day. Very light weight but feel sturdy.

Not disappointed. Comfortable, robust, and grippy. Can walk all day in these. My last pair lasted five years and took me through Europe and many trails here in Australia. These are a newer and upgraded version and so far after about 120 km of trails, they are killing it. Highly recommend.
