Some improvements, one big unprovement
I previously bought the Rocktol Surge clone and thought it was definitely the best Leatherman clone I had handled so far. I decided to give this one from Multper a try, figuring I would keep the one I liked better and stocking stuff the other. The Multper actually improves on the Rocktol in some ways. I like that there are no cutouts in the frame, which gives it a sturdier feel and does not expose the tools inside. I think the micro bit driver is a better choice than a small flathead screwdriver for a tool that already features a 1/4” bit driver. I love the cord cutter/guthook/package opener that is now integrated into the serrated blade. I really like the Damascus blade (doesn’t cut any better than regular stainless but it looks really nice). And I love that the Multper includes the t-shank scalpel holder, instead of me having to buy a separate “spare parts” kit with a bunch of accessories I don’t need just to get the scalpel holder. The overall fit and finish and action, particularly the opening and closing of the pliers, is better than the Rocktol, though the Rocktol is also excellent.My one major gripe with this new iteration is that the frame design interferes with your ability to easily access the lock release tabs on the four main outside tools, making one handed operation more difficult. As you can see in the pics, the Leatherman and the Rocktol have large cutouts around the tabs providing plenty of space for your thumb. The tabs can still be accessed one handed on the Multper, but it is more awkward. Even two handed, you have to use the tip of your thumb or your thumbnail to press it. I think this is a fairly large oversight on the part of the designers, considering they got so many other things right.So which is more important to me, a slightly improved toolset or easier, smoother operation of the tool? I’m still not sure. It’s a shame it can’t be both, but these Chinese clone companies are much quicker to respond to customer feedback than Leatherman is, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Multper released a new and improved version in the near future. In spite of this issue, this is still a very well made, useful tool at a great price.Oh yeah, and I would also change the name. I mean… Multper?UPDATE: I used a $10 mini rotary tool from Harbor Freight to grind away some of the frame to make the liner lock tabs more accessible. Was a fun little project, and now the tool is sooo much easier to use. Takes a steady hand and a little patience, but this mod makes the Multper the best of the Chinese Surge clones by a mile.

Perhaps the best you can buy, but heavy
So many to choose from. I only have less than a dozen. I have Leatherman and Gerber. Quality on this is excellent. Fit, finish and materials supurb. Incredible how sharp knife is. Doesn’t pinch hand like my Leatherman when using pliers. Nice real scissors that are usable. Micro Phillips/flat head for glasses will get used, as will the 1/4″ bit and saw blade.  Sheath more durable and practical than it appeared. If there’s anything I could complain about it’s the weight. It’s a hog. I use a Skeletool for light carry. But this is my new do everything favorite. Hopefully that’s helpful.

Davvero incredibile… buona qualità e lo sto testando da alcune settimane. Per le escursioni ho 2 leatherman che rimangono comunque il riferimento (surge e wave) ma questa l’avevo presa da portare in bici con l’idea di ridarla indietro se la qualità si fosse rivelata scarsa; acquistata a 30€, costa 6 volte meno della Surge!!!! qualità /prezzo da non credere. Ho testato la tolleranza con movimenti torsionali per vedere se gli snodi si rivelavano deboli ed ho avuto una buona impressione, testato anche i vari blocchi di sicurezza lame e accessori e niente da dire, perfetti; la pinza è pesante (stesso peso della surge comunque) ma solida. Un appunto potrebbe andare al porta bits, perché usa dei bits non standard in versione dual-ended e con ball detent e assieme lavorano benissimo (tra l’altro il porta bits è bello solido e con un blocco impeccabile), ma se si vogliono usare dei bits standard, bisogna fare i conti con una non perfetta tenuta degli inserti che scivolano via e hanno un po’ di gioco, penso di risolvere la cosa piazzando un piccolo magnete in fondo al porta innesti ma non so quanti Nm riesce a reggere con quel micro gioco… per il resto è perfetta con le lame affilatissime (non le ho testate sul campo però) è al momento risultano molto solide. Il porta lame bosch è un identico al surge e ci si possono montare centinaia di lame alla bisogna, tra gli inserti è presente un seghetto da legna molto lungo (se lo montate fate attenzione perché non è richiudibile) ed estremamente affilato e aggressivo, anche questo peró da testare sul campo perché di sicuro affonderá benissimo ma non so se riuscirá a reggere movimenti di torsione quando è dentro il legno, ma anche il surge non l’ho mai provato in questo senso (quando lavoro il legno, preferisco la wave, mi da più sicurezza con la lama ben fissata al manico); comunque pinza consigliatissima!!
