Works well in certain situations: in a vehicle or camping, and during power outages
This isn’t a portable espresso maker I would keep on my counter and use at home every morning. There are better alternatives.This type of coffee maker – for me, espresso – functions in an environment where I need the next best thing that can produce a cup or two of good coffee when facilities are limited.I took this on a sailboat to try out. I brought it fully charged, and I also brought a backup battery. The boat also had a battery. Along with this espresso/coffee maker I brought some N-presso pointy end pods, a small carton of non-refrigerated UHT whole milk and some sweetener. From previous knowledge I knew I would not attempt to use grounds with this; too much work.I put the sweetener and a dash of milk in the bottom of a cup then I began using the maker. I did not start with hot water, I had none. I used room temperature water from a jug. I inserted the pod into the holder, closed the unit, and waited. It took 9 minutes 22 seconds from start to finish. The finished result was great. My partner – who watched with amusement and meanwhile made his coffee more quickly in a Moka pot on a burner – agreed that my drink tasted “really good.” Personally, I think it tasted better than his Moka made coffee.Where can I see myself using this? On a road trip, when I don’t want to stop somewhere and buy a coffee, and I’d prefer to make my own, especially if I have my favorite pods with me. Or if I’m staying in a budget hotel and I don’t want to use on of those in-room coffee makers that deliver mediocre coffee, at best.Is this an everyday-use item? No, it is not. It’s a gadget that I would keep with my travel item stash, along with a cooler and next to the hurricane supplies.Quality: it’s well made and works as it should. The coffee was hot and delicious. The price point seems fair: in the middle range and no obvious design flaws. I would order it again.

Excellent capsule espresso, not good for loose coffee
At first I was disappointed with this espresso maker. My initial reason for this purchase was to use my own loose espresso grounds to make espresso. The directions are vague in offering helpful tips for a good brew. For my first batch with loose grounds, I used too little coffee and the espresso was light brown. For the second brew, I tightly packed the cup with as much coffee as it would hold. The result was not good. The flavor was completely off and tasted nothing like espresso or even coffee. My beans are ground on fine setting, but maybe they need to be finer? I included a picture of the loose coffee adapter where you can see the metal screen at the bottom. I am uncertain how it functions to filter the coffee, but it does not seem to do a good job and appears difficult to clean. Also note, after brewing and dissembling the machine, the device leaks quite a bit of liquid that never makes it into the brew cup. See my attached photo of the mess it made on my counter.Putting my initial disappointment aside in order to provide a fair review, I purchased the recommended espresso capsules to try a cup with this alternative brew method. (Kcups are NOT compatible). To my surprise, the espresso was amazing with a deep aroma and a complex, smooth taste. A strong 5/5 for taste and ease of use using this method and the reason why I gave this product 4 stars. I deducted a star for loose coffee performance.A few tips…I recommend using hot water as the instructions also indicate is best. When I used tap water, it took 10 minutes to heat the water to 90 degrees Celsius. Also, when using near boiling water, the measured water temperature drops significantly when it hits the metal holding reservoir, so I also use the heated brew for hot water too.Cons: loose coffee brewing is a FAIL, 10 minutes to heat tap water, NO cleaning instructions, Kcups not compatible, loose coffee method is messy, coffee capsules are expensivePros: compact, very portable, simple operation especially with capsules, stylish, no messy liquid on my counter with capsules brewing, cordless, charges quickly, capsule espresso is excellent tasting.

Cold Brew Freedom On-the-Go
I usually make my own cold brew at home, but never had a way to keep up that habit while traveling—until now! This portable coffee maker is exactly what I needed. It’s compact, lightweight, and works great with both ground coffee and capsules. The rechargeable battery makes it easy to use anywhere, and I love that I can enjoy fresh coffee while out camping or on long road trips. It’s been super handy during our move and will be coming with me for future adventures. Easy to clean, and surprisingly powerful for such a small machine.
