Remember the trapezoid from high school geometry? Turns out, this funky ol’ shape is ideal for helping sleeping bags retain heat. Our trapezoidal baffle construction is just one of the reasons the Cosmic Down is still our favorite three-season superstar. We also love the expanded natural-fit footbox for happier feet, zippered stash pocket and fully recycled fabrics and PFAS-free DWR treatment. The Cosmic Down is the total package.

    Warm and packs down well
I bought the Kelty Cosmic Down 20 for fall backpacking trips and so far it has totally exceeded expectations. It kept me warm in temps down to the high 20s °F with just a base layer and a decent sleeping pad. The down insulation lofts up nicely, and I really like the hood and draft collar features—little things that make a big difference on cold nights. It packs down smaller than I expected (fits in my 50L pack with room to spare), and for the price, this is probably one of the best value down bags out there. It’s not ultralight, but it’s light enough for most weekend or multi-day hikes.Only downside is the mummy shape is a bit snug if you toss and turn. But the footbox has enough space and I still slept comfortably.Highly recommend for 3-season use if you want warmth and quality without breaking the bank.

    Tight at the shoulder
Excellent bag, well built, lightweight, and warm, perfect for backpacking. Comfortable down to about freezing (32°f). I am 6′ 2″ tall, about 26″ across at the shoulder. I purchased the long version. Length is good probably fit a guy up to 6′ 6″. However the bag is “snug” at the shoulder and arms. Not tight per say but not a lot of room eather. Difficult to fully zip and unzip because it is tight with one arm flexed or “bent” in order to zip. If you are a barrel chested, muscular, or husky man you are not going to like this bag. I have taken to using it as a blanket. Otherwise very happy.

    Great value bag
Phenomenal sleeping bag. Keeps you warm, and if you sleep hot, this thing can be a furnace even near the limit temperature. Finding a bag of this quality for a price similar to this is somewhat hard. The zipper is good and easily goes up and down, contrary to some of REI’s Magma series that can have some zipper troubles in my experience, and you don’t need to roll this up that great to fit it in the stuff sack.

Very warm, wish it had a good way to vent.
Very warm, just wish it had a few vents in it. I’m 4’10 so trying to find something with out too much extra space is a struggle. I recently used this on a camping trip where it got to the low 30s at night on a humid mountain. I was honestly afraid I was going to be super cold but instead I sweat the entire night. I ended up unzipping the side but that left me a little too cold. If this thing had a 2 way zipper so you could just do a small portion or some vents it would have been perfect! Overall I guess id rather be too warm than too cold so can’t complain too much.

    Great bag
Love this bag. I have a warmer and heavier bag but this is my favorite. Used it in boundary waters trip in a hammock tent. Got down to 37 degrees at night but I was cozy. Love the small size it folds up in a small case. Perfect for backpacking.

    Great product!
Love it! Took it camping and temp dropped to low 40’s and I never felt cold. The hooded area didn’t really stay around my head well. I would have liked a little wider but got used to it.

    Comfortable
I was so comfortable! If I got a little warm I unzipped , if little too cold zipped up. I shoved extra close in the hood and used it for my pillow. Loved the inside zipper pocket so I had my light and sleeping essentials handy.
