Excellent, Sturdy, Large Carry-On Backpack
This is a review of the Hilomon Travel Backpack.I am a big fan of large backpacks. I want it to hold as much as it can while still being usable as a carry-on bag when flying. This one definitely fits the need to hold a lot. My everyday backpack is a large, brand-name pack that can hold up to an 18.4″ laptop. I have tried a lot of other backpacks that have been great, but none of them could replace my daily pack. This one, however, was able to do that! One key note is that my everyday pack carries my work laptop, which is on the smaller side. This bag would not fit (nor would I expect it to fit) my personal, 18″ laptop.Let’s talk about the storage on this bag. I have found that most backpacks either have endless pockets, which are great for organizing, or they are mainly one giant compartment, which sacrifices organization to hold a lot. This backpack manages to find a wonderful mix of both space and having enough pockets for organization. There is a main, very large compartment that is opened using double zippers. It can unzip fully as a clamshell opening to 180 degrees. Within the main compartment, there are elastic straps that can be used to hold items in place. There is also a separate, zippered section within the main compartment that is intended to be used for wet items or items you don’t want to spill within the bag. I usually use it as another compartment for items I want in the bag and also want easy access to them. I can’t confirm if it fully keeps liquids inside this compartment since I haven’t had anything spill in there. I can at least confirm that this pocket is fully lined with a plastic material that should keep liquids contained.Closest to the shoulder-strap side of the bag is a separate laptop compartment. One side of this compartment goes against the wearer’s back, with some padding between. The other side is a wall shared with the large, main compartment. Inside the laptop compartment is a sleeve for a laptop. On the front of the laptop sleeve is a smaller pocket that could be used for a tablet or to hold accessories, like headphones. An elastic strap goes over the top of the laptop and connects to the front of the laptop pocket using hook-and-loop connectors. Outside of the laptop sleeve is some additional space that I use for items like my laptop charger, a mouse, or any other accessories.On the side of the backpack that is opposite the shoulder straps, there are a few zippered compartments. The smallest of these is on the top and is great for holding small items. The next compartment down is about twice the size of the top one, and it has some organizational pockets for a phone, pens, cards, cables, keys, etc. The bottom compartment is great for keeping items separated from the rest of the bag. It opens to a flexible, bag-like wall that can expand to utilize space inside the main compartment while keeping the items separate. It can be used for shoes or dirty clothes.There are also some smaller pockets available. On the side, under a carrying handle, there is a zipper that opens to a flat, somewhat hidden pocket. Each side of the waist straps has a small, zippered pocket. There is an elastic bottle holder on the side that I can use to securely hold different-sized water bottles. It even fits my 36-ounce water bottle. The front has molle webbing, so I even have the option to attach more accessories or pockets as needed.I am very pleased with this backpack. The material and zippers feel very sturdy. It holds plenty while still offering some pockets for organization. The backpack straps, handles, and included shoulder strap are all convenient and comfortable ways to carry the bag. Most importantly, I have been able to use this as my everyday bag since I got it. I recommend this to anyone who wants to carry a lot in a bag that can still fit onto a plane (as long as you don’t have a laptop larger than 17″).

The quality on this bag is made very well, good zipper action and seams. This is very much a travel backpack the way it is designed, but could still make due for a school bag and work bag. It has a built in port so you can add your own power bank on the inside and use it to charge your phone in an airport etc. The padded shoulder back straps can also be hidden inside the back panel if you choose to use it as a carry handle by the side or use the included shoulder cross body strap. Another nice touch for travel use is the attached waist strap to distribute the weight but also each side has a zipper to put items you may need on the fly real quick so as not to have to dig into your pockets.There is a back zippered compartment for electronics (padded) and that zipper allows you to put a lock on it. The main compartment is for your clothes and other items and it opens long wise, not clamshell. It has X straps to hold clothes in place as well as a wet pocket on the opposite side. This main zipper does not have the lock feature.On the outside you have 3 pockets. A top regular area, a middle pocket to hold pens with interior pockets, and the bottom is actually meant as a shoe compartment with vent holes, but again, this uses interior space but it’s still a nice feature to separate out shoes or dirty laundry. A water bottle pocket on the side, and the front has straps to attach items to. Two carry handles, and a luggage through strap on the back also.I think this is a very nice travel bag, easy carryon size and could maybe fit under a seat if not loaded up. It allows access to items easily, and should carry comfortably on a man. It will make a good gift for someone who’s job might require an overnight stay once in a while or to use as a go bag.
