🗺️ Travel the World—Postcard Style! |
I ordered this set knowing I’d receive 50 postcards showcasing famous landmarks from around the world, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover a few thoughtful extras. The set came with a printed list of all 50 locations and a world map that marks where each one is found. There’s even a small calendar included—almost like a subtle nudge to plan future travels!WAKLYVER is described as an “art and design studio dedicated to bringing the world’s cultural heritage to life.” While I couldn’t find their studio online (they don’t seem to have a website included), the intention behind this postcard collection is clear—and fun!🌍 A Whimsical Tour of Global LandmarksThe locations featured are wide-ranging—from Singapore, China, Greece, Australia, and France to iconic U.S. spots like the Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge, and Washington Monument. It’s a fun way to recall places you’ve visited or dream of seeing one day. I will likely use some of these as vision board pieces or collage keepsakes from my travels. Or I might also use a few of them in the Cascadia Poetics Lab Poetry Postcard Fest project—something I plan to do again this year. The back of each card includes a tiny printed description of the place pictured, which is a great touch. However, the font is very tiny and already difficult to read, and unfortunately, some of the text could get blacked out during the mailing process, especially if the post office applies a barcode over that area. For this reason, many postcards are intentionally left blank for about a half inch across the bottom of the back of the postcard.📷 Design & Image QualityThe postcards are printed on decent card stock—definitely sturdy enough to mail or display. The artwork is a little stylized and dreamy, with highly edited colors and a noticeable emphasis on clouds. Some images feel a bit fantastical rather than photorealistic. For example, the red on the Golden Gate Bridge is heavily enhanced, and the overall color correction leans toward the surreal. That said, it still gives a clear idea of each landmark.📦 Format & Storage NotesOne of the drawbacks for me was the size of the box. The box is about 6″ x 8.5″, so it doesn’t fit as easily along with the slightly oversize 4″ x 6″ boxes that normally come along with postcard sets. The box is about the thickness of what you would get for a deck of playing cards. I think the insert with the map and calendar is part of the reason for the larger packaging. Also, they use the front of the box to display a thumbnail of all the postcards on the front of the box—a nice touch. Anyway, for standard postcard storage purposes I generally prefer a smaller 4x6ish size box.💡 Extra Uses & Final ThoughtsThis set could also be used as educational flashcards for kids or travel inspiration. Despite the quirks (tiny font, stylized images, emphasis on clouds, oversized packaging, random fonts on the front of the postcards), this is still a good value. Postcards at tourist shops often cost much more, so getting 50 in a themed collection at a lower price is reasonable. If you love travel, postcards, or just a whimsical take on global landmarks, you’ll probably find this set a lot of fun.
